Integrating Mada and Apple Pay in Your Store (2026 Guide)

3/15/2026 · 5 min read

A walkthrough of Saudi payment gateways (HyperPay, Moyasar, Tap, Paymob), integration steps, fees, and a practical comparison.

Saudi customers reach for Mada and Apple Pay before anything else. If your store doesn't accept them, you're losing 60%+ of potential sales. This guide explains every Saudi gateway option and how to pick and integrate the right one — based on experience integrating 150+ Saudi stores.

Why Mada and Apple Pay?

  • 80% of Saudi cards are Mada (not Visa/Mastercard)
  • Apple Pay is the fastest-growing method — 2× higher conversion
  • STC Pay and urpay — important mobile channels (15% of transactions)
  • Tabby and Tamara (BNPL) — lifts average order value by 30%

Displaying these logos on checkout raises conversion ~28% instantly.

Main options

1. HyperPay

The biggest and most popular in Saudi.

2. Moyasar

Lightest and easiest to integrate.

3. Tap Payments

Strong Gulf option.

  • ✅ Supports 16 Arab countries
  • ✅ KNET (Kuwait), Benefit (Bahrain), NaPS (Egypt)
  • ✅ Fast integration
  • ⚙️ Fees: 2.5–2.95%
  • 💰 Best for multi-country stores

4. Paymob

Rising fast in 2025–2026.

  • ⚙️ Competitive fees (2.5–2.95%)
  • 🏢 Especially recommended for Egypt

5. Salla Pay (Salla stores only)

Native, zero setup. Fees baked into Salla subscription. Fastest to launch but doesn't work outside Salla.

6. PayTabs

Older but still strong.

  • ✅ Known for larger stores
  • ⚙️ 2.85% fees
  • 🏢 Serving since 2014

How to choose?

Criterion HyperPay Moyasar Tap Paymob PayTabs
Best for Larger biz Mid-market Multi-country Multi Larger stores
Integration ease Medium Easiest Medium Medium Medium
Fees Slightly higher Competitive Competitive Competitive Medium
Support Excellent Very good Good Good Good
Mada
Apple Pay

Our recommendation:

  • New store → Moyasar (easiest, cheapest to start)
  • Medium/large store → HyperPay (support and stability)
  • Multi-country → Tap
  • Salla store → Salla Pay (built in)

Integration steps (WooCommerce + Moyasar as example)

1. Sign up at Moyasar

  • Go to moyasar.com → "Get Started"
  • Upload company docs (CR, VAT certificate, bank account)
  • Verification takes 2–5 business days

2. Install the plugin

In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Moyasar Payment. Or download from Moyasar directly.

3. Add the keys

From the Moyasar dashboard:

  • Publishable key — appears in front-end code
  • Secret key — never share it

4. Enable payment methods

  • ☑ Mada
  • ☑ Apple Pay
  • ☑ STC Pay
  • ☑ Visa/Mastercard

5. Test

Use Moyasar's test cards before going live:

  • Success: 4111 1111 1111 1111
  • Fail: 4000 0000 0000 0002
  • 3D Secure: 4111 1111 1111 1111 + CVV 100

6. Enable Apple Pay

Requires a merchant certificate (Merchant ID) from Apple Developer:

  1. Sign up for Apple Developer ($99/year)
  2. Create a Merchant ID
  3. Download the certificate from Apple
  4. Upload it to Moyasar
  5. Add the Domain Verification File from Apple to your site

7. Real purchase test

Before launch, buy a real product with your own card. Verify:

  • Amount is correct
  • Tax invoice is correct
  • Confirmation email arrived
  • Order shows up in admin

Prerequisites

  • Valid commercial registration
  • Saudi bank account
  • HTTPS site (mandatory)
  • Privacy policy and terms published
  • Clear refund policy
  • Visible contact information
  • Registered VAT (if revenue > SAR 375K)

ZATCA invoicing

Every Saudi gateway generates a compliant tax invoice automatically. But:

  • Make sure your platform (WooCommerce/Salla) connects to ZATCA Phase 2
  • Use a ZATCA Invoice plugin to send invoices automatically
  • See the ZATCA checklist

Tabby and Tamara (BNPL)

"Buy now, pay later" lifts sales significantly:

  • Tabby: 4 interest-free installments, serves 50,000+ stores
  • Tamara: similar, serves Saudi and UAE

Fees: 4–6% to the merchant (the customer pays 0) Impact: average order up 25–40%, conversion +30%

Common mistakes

  1. Not testing before launch: place a dummy order yourself
  2. Hidden fees: read the contract end-to-end (chargeback fees, FX fees)
  3. Skipping 3D Secure: rise in fraud
  4. Subscribing without understanding chargebacks: you can lose the amount + a fine
  5. Not integrating with ZATCA: legal violation
  6. Using only an international gateway: you lose 80% of the market
  7. Not testing on iOS and Android: Apple Pay works only on Safari/iOS

Success metrics

Track monthly:

  • Transaction success rate (must be > 95%)
  • Average order value
  • Cart abandonment at checkout
  • Chargeback rate (must be < 1%)

Bottom line

Integrating Mada and Apple Pay is no longer hard — Moyasar or HyperPay solve it in two days. The investment is worth it: stores without Mada/Apple Pay lose 60%+ of Saudi sales. If you need help, our team integrates any store with any gateway, sets up ZATCA invoices, and tests every payment scenario before handover. Also see how to reduce cart abandonment.
